Definitely! I haven't even had a chance to look at them yet, but I'm sure that there some good ones. Hard to go wrong out there.:)

Thanks for the input guys! I did go, and thankfully I didn't have any issues getting stuck. I think it had just been drilled into my head so many times to not go out onto those roads alone, that I started to get a little unnerved when the time came to actually go. Once I deflated my tires it was...
I'm having some anxiety and I could use a little advice from people that know these roads. I'm leaving later on this afternoon for the Coyote Buttes area. I have permits for Coyote Buttes North on Saturday and permits for Coyote Buttes South on Sunday and Monday. I've been planning to go to...
This whole thing sickens me. I'm also horrified by this idea, and it particularly feels like a slap in the face because it comes right on the heals of the monument reductions. Then there's the potential for a government shutdown this weekend, which the news says is unlikely to happen, but you...
Looks like a beautiful hike! I haven't done this one yet, but reading your report when talking about how tough the hiking was reminds me of a trip I took in Grand Gulch with @Yvonne a few years ago. Our plan was to start at the Government Trail and exit via Kane Gulch. The hiking was pretty easy...
I use an Op-Tech Stabilizer Strap to keep my camera accessible without bouncing around.
I also bought a few of their Reporter/Backpack Connectors so I can clip the camera to the front of whichever backpack I happen to be wearing.
This combination is a cheap and easy way to keep my camera...
I bought one of these about 7 years ago. They're nice little tripods. While I prefer to use my bigger tripod for most circumstances, I still pack this one on backpacking trips since it's over a pound lighter than the other one. I did have to change out the ballhead, though. It was fine at first...
The eclipse was freaking awesome! It moved me to tears. We camped at Cove Palisades State Park in Oregon and hiked up the Tam-a-lau Trail to view the eclipse. It was awesome because we found a spot to ourselves to view the eclipse, but could hear people in the area cheering during totality. I...
My fiancee decided to take some time off and make the trip with me, and the trip evolved from a backpacking trip to a car camping trip. I keep coming back from trips to Oregon and raving about it, and he's never been so that's where we're heading. I trolled the Oregon State Parks reservations...
I did go over Rocky Sea Pass over the weekend, and it was almost snow free. Just a couple spots where you had to boulder hop around the snowline to get back on trail. I didn't make it to Dead Horse.
Thanks! That was my thinking. It would suck to get out there and realize you weren't getting the full meal deal, so to speak. I've been using that map to help me figure out where I can go to be within the path of totality. Glad it was useful. :)
I was curious about this spot so I searched it on a map of the path of the eclipse, and it looks like it's outside the path. Just a heads up. ;)

Thank you for your comment. I made the trip over the weekend, and it went really well. The double freezer bag in a dry bag method worked perfectly. No leaks. It was very emotional trip for me obviously, but we found a beautiful spot for them, and it made me very happy knowing that they are there...
I use the Golite poncho tarp, but sadly Golite went out of business.
As for the sweating, it can be an issue, mostly with the hood on, but I've found most rain gear to have the same problem. Pick your poison, I suppose.
