Thanks! You're right, it's the northern part of the Lemhi Range. I was hoping to get there last summer, but I didn't make it. I'll have a report of my trip in the Lost Rivers coming soon :)
This was a solo 3-night backpacking trip that I did in mid-June of 2016.
The Italian Peaks are a little-known sub range of the Rockies that lie on the southern border of Montana and Idaho. The most sough-after destination in the range is probably the Webber Lakes, a string of 3 stunning lakes...
As some of you know, I took the entire summer off to go backpacking all over the Rocky Mountains. This has always been a dream of mine, and as a 21 year old single guy, I didn't have much weighing me down. I saved up some money over the previous few months, quit my job, and basically said...
I'm sorry I haven't been active for a long time, so I don't really deserve any recognition on this forum. But, I just went back through my calendar and added up all my bag nights last year. The total comes to 60 nights! Figured I walked approximately 500 miles over the summer. Special thanks to...
Great TR and pics! I just did Sulphur Creek for the first time, and it was beautiful. Getting by that 3rd and final waterfall was pretty scary, mostly because my shoes were wet.
Thank YOU for being an awesome reader! It'll keep me motivated knowing a few people are interested in my travels. :) I am keeping a Journal, and who knows? I may even write a book when this is all said and done.
Don't forget about that trip in September, I'd like to meet you!
First off, this is just my personal thread of my summer 2016 trip. I quit my job in late May after saving up some money, and I'm traveling all over the Rocky Mountains (and southern Utah) until the end of September. I'll be solo for most of it, but I'll have some friends and family join me for...
You guys are forgetting a BIG one in the lower 48. The Absarokas in Wyoming. Lots of the terrain is alpine rolling tundra, and you can walk for miles and miles on the green ridges and plateaus.
@Artemus no, it's actually a good spot... I think perfect for what Nick is looking for. It's less than 15 minutes from the Bryce entrance fee station.
I'm in a black 2000 ford explorer. I'll message you my number. I might be here tomorrow afternoon, but I may be tired because I'm doing some...
The Stough Creek Lakes Basin is very pretty, and only 7-8 miles one way. A perfect one night we or leisurely two nighter.
The Deep Creek and Ice Lakes have the edge on scenery, and you can make a little loop of it by exploring all the basins. But it's 11 miles or so one way, not including...
I just did Death Hollow. Wear long pants and you won't have to worry about it. Easy to avoid. I never once touched it, and I'm pretty sensitive to it.
I highly recommend doing all of Death Hollow down from the Boulder Mail Trail if you have time.
The best Goldens are much too far for your itinerary.
For the absolute best, most scenery-packed trip (and amazing fishing) to get a beginner hooked is the Hailey Pass loop starting at big sandy trailhead. You take the trail to big Sandy lake, go north over Jackass Pass to the Cirque of the...
Lol I'm in a good one right now. It's a few miles off Highway 22 just north of Bryce. It's a perfect place to car camp, there's even a fire pit set up. It's about 50-100 yards off the highway so you still hear cars every now and then, but overall very secluded. Here's coordinates: 37.73174...
Sorry, won't be for a while. Currently on a journey of a lifetime. BTW, every night from now until the end of September is a bag night. Is there a better way to keep track of them for the purposes of this forum?? Lol
