Sierra Range is still fully covered in snow and will be for quite a few more weeks.

The rains can often arrive in May and very likely there will be bugs.....especially the nasty little NOSEEUMS!!!

We went last August and the bugs were the worst I have ever experienced in my 30 years of exploring the Sierra Range......For sure all depends on how fast the snow melts in the next few months.

We often go to the Sierra Range late July/early Aug as there are few mozzies left by then. I also despise those little DEVILS!

I arrive in Escalante this Saturday right in the midst of the forecast snow storm.....Really hoping a lot does not accumulate around Escalante area. Abnormally warm temps arriving in Vancouver on the same day I fly to Las Wages....Any vacation is still a good one.

Tried my friend's zipperless sleeping bag for one night and it was a pain! If you get too warm there is no way to cool down unless you get out of the bag completely.......There is a reason those types of bags will never be a seller.

Big Agnes UL tents are pretty sweet......I have a 1, 2 and 4 person. Not 4 season tents but I have been in some serious wind, rain and snow storms and they have all handled it well.
