We went last August and the bugs were the worst I have ever experienced in my 30 years of exploring the Sierra Range......For sure all depends on how fast the snow melts in the next few months.
I would report it! Also, keep a copy of the report.
I have done this in the past and then followed up......Went to a supervisor level to get results and next time I went to that location there were new signs and big boulders blocking the access. If you politely remind them that their job is...
My week of wandering the slickrock around Escalante I saw more water than I have ever seen in all my years of exploring the area......And there is more precipitation on the way so you may be good.
I arrive in Escalante this Saturday right in the midst of the forecast snow storm.....Really hoping a lot does not accumulate around Escalante area. Abnormally warm temps arriving in Vancouver on the same day I fly to Las Wages....Any vacation is still a good one.
Depends on the amount of precip and if the sun comes out.......I learned the hard way a long time ago to stay off those roads that turn into 'scary slippery mud'.
Udot does have a webcam at Hanksville and a few other locales out there. Capitol Reef also has a recorded weather message and they...
Wow! Great report.......Those stone tree stumps on day 2 of your trip are super cool.
I have experienced that scary search for water in the desert.....Relieved you found some water.
Taking a solo trip trip to Escalante March 17 to 23........Plan is to go out on day trips to explore the area. I have been to the Escalante area 7 times in the last few years but there is no shortage of new adventures to be had. Keen to meet up with people to explore if you are in the area. I...
The 30 mins I saw was quite good.....The audio left a lot to be desired but I could understand much of what Steve was saying.....It said it was being recorded so maybe someone can contact Steve and ask if it is possible to share the recording.
I have been to the Escalante area numerous times in mid-March and am hoping to return again this year......Often really cold nights but really nice during the day. Be sure to NEVER drive on most of the non-paved roads if they are wet/snow or if there is precipitation in the forecast....They can...
Tried my friend's zipperless sleeping bag for one night and it was a pain! If you get too warm there is no way to cool down unless you get out of the bag completely.......There is a reason those types of bags will never be a seller.
Big Agnes UL tents are pretty sweet......I have a 1, 2 and 4 person. Not 4 season tents but I have been in some serious wind, rain and snow storms and they have all handled it well.
