Suggestions in a Yellowstone and a Beartooth trip

We only had to carry the dog (75lbs yellow lab) 6 or 7 times for a short distance. The longest boulder field I've encountered there is just below Mariane Lake. It's not part of the route listed above and was over 100 yards. Don't get me wrong. You'll encounter boulder fields, but nothing...

I've done most of this route and can tell you 80% of it is trailed. As a side note, to do this route and skip Summerville Lake would be a crime.

OK, I feel like the lake in the above pic needs a little more detail. This is taken from the lake in question. It's a look to the north from ...........Lake.

There are Golden Trout in this lake, but we came up short. They were there....we saw'em. Let's see what you come up with. The view is at the foot of the lake looking north. Name the lake

This is Bridger. He backpacks with his owner / dad, Craig (Dorf). I've had the pleasure to backpack with him twice now. He would poke his head under the rain fly each morning to see if I was awake and had treats for him. He's taking a well deserved rest in this pic.

Suggestions in a Yellowstone and a Beartooth trip

Great description, Bob. Island Lake, Lady of the Lake, etc are like being on the congested freeway in an urban area. Once you get a few miles out, it's like a rural freeway with occasional construction, lol. I'm headed back to both the Tetons and Beartooth again this year. Beartooth 8/11...

Suggestions in a Yellowstone and a Beartooth trip

I found the Beartooth much easier to bang out miles vs. the Ortenburger trip I did with Joey years ago. If you decide on the Tetons, feel free to shoot me a message.

    To Do in 2023

I have a lot of irons in the fire currently, but if things go as planned, because we're not promised tomorrow, possibly another float trip down the Colorado, out of Potash, to get to the Maze in April. I'll be back in the Absaroka - Beartooth Wilderness early August. The guys I took to the...

    Backpacking Grand Teton National Park : Fossil Pass,Fox Creek Pass,Indian Lake,Alaska Basin,Hurricane Pass,Ice Floe Lake,& Snowdrift Lake

Thanks for the report. A couple of thoughts: 1. There's a well maintained trail at the head of South Fork Cascade Canyon that leads up to Avalanche Divide (and the trail that heads north off it towards Icefloe Lake). But I admire the off-trail route you two chose. 2. Seeing a group of 30+...
