Last weekend, my brother in law and I decided we had to get one more trip in up to the Uintas. It always sucks accepting that the season in the high country is coming to an end. We didn't care where we went or how far we traveled as long as we got up there and enjoyed it one last time. So we decided just to go to Jewell Lake from the Ruth Lake trail-head. Originally, we were planning on going to Teal lake but we got up there late Friday night when it was dark and decided just to stay at Jewell. We thought we would stay there for the night, and then pack up in the morning and head to Teal but we enjoyed our spot so much that we decided just to stay put and just day hike around.

This was by far our laziest trip we had ever done, but it was very relaxing and enjoyable. I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with Jewell Lake. As we were hiking to the lake, we came upon it on the east side of the lake above the cliffs. It was a pretty awesome view from there so we were determined to find a spot on the cliff to camp. There weren't very many flat spots for tents, but we had our hammocks so it made it pretty easy to find a cool spot with awesome views, and just a pretty cool feeling of camping on a cliff. The weather was pretty rainy throughout the weekend, so we spent a lot of time playing around at our camp setting up tarps, building shelter for my dogs and just hanging out in our hammocks. I know this is kind of a boring TR but thought I would get it up anyway and hopefully you will enjoy looking at some backcountry pictures as much as I do.

We finally got some wood dry and got a nice warm fire going.

It was fun to watch the storm hitting the lake from up high.

If you look close you can see our hammocks at the top of the cliffs.

Looks like a great hurrah for the end of the season. I am super bummed that the season is wrapping up, I didn't get up there nearly as much as I was wanting to or hoping to this year.

Very nice. I actually love these lazy kind of trips now and then. Especially when the weather isn't cooperative. This shot is pretty awesome:

Yeah, I really like that shot above as well. Sounds like you made the most of the weather.
