Sorry I offended so many people on this thread. I get what your saying but there's no grand canyon at the end of the hole in the rock road. Its wide, graded, and 4wd is no longer necessary. Most trail heads are a ways off the main road and I haven't heard anything that says all spur roads...

Going down Aspen Grove is a knee killer for me so I would rather go up it. Its something around 3600' from Emerald Lake to Aspen Grove 3100' from Emerald Lake to Timpooneke

Pro's and Con's to each one. Aspen Grove: Steeper but shorter. Passes by Emerald Lake. Trail crosses more waterfalls. Amazing views the entire way as you hike up. Timpooneke: Trail is more gradual but longer. Emerald Lake must be done as a side trip. Best views are really once you make it...

I hardly call driving down washboards beating the hell out of my car an adventure. I would be for it only because I would like to save a few bucks by driving my Camry down to a few of the backpacking trail heads. 30mpg is awful nice.

I have been returning the wrappers of my Mountain House backpacking meals after each trip because they didn't fully satisfy my hunger. :roflmao:

I won't be buying expensive products from REI anymore. I see no sense in spending extra money for (say) a pair of trekking poles that I will only use 3-4 times a year. If they break down in 13 months I'm now forced to deal with the manufacturer for parts so I may as well get them for a better...

I guess this explains why the last two times I've tried to return something at REI they completely guilt tripped me because it was over 30 days.....
