My name is Nick Woolley. This website is a compilation of my trip reports from my time outdoors. I live in Salt Lake City with my wife Audra and three dogs Nikita, Patina and Teak. Most of my trips are in and around Utah but I try to expand my boundaries here and there. I’m kind of obsessed with getting out and seeing all I can. I figure my knees won’t last forever so right now my favorite kind of outings are backpacking and hiking with a little 4WD fun en route.

I enjoy photography but I’m more concerned with documenting the experience than I am about getting a few perfect shots. I post photos regularly on Flickr, check out my stream here.

Hey, I clicked through via Dennis Udink. I am really liking what I see. Abby and I don’t live as close to southern Utah as you do, but we try to get there as often as time and circumstance allow. I will add your site to my feeds. Our travel blog is here…

Thank you, Nick. I am really enjoying the stuff you publish – I think you and I are interested in a lot of the same adventures. I just added you and Dennis Udink to a new link category on the Traveller called “Fellow Travellers.” I will add a few more, but in the mean time, if you can think of anyone who should be there, let me know. -Richard

This is a great blog! Thanks for all your info and your pictures are awesome!
My husband and I were planning on a 3-4 day backpacking trip in the Uintas in July, but that is obviously no going to happen this year! We don’t have any other options as far as time: he has next week and the week after off from work and we still want to go backpacking somewhere. We would prefer to avoid the desert because we want to bring our dog. Do you have any ideas of trips that would not be covered in snow and we could take our dog with us? Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Rebecca! I sure do have some reccomendations. I’m in the same boat and I’ve been going mad trying to figure out what I’m going to do over the next two weeks with all the snow. I’ll send you an email.

Happened upon your site and I am loving the pictures you take with the stars swirling in the sky. So cool. My husband is packing for a weekend trip to kurmush lake and it was fun to get a feel for where he will be in a few days. Great info.
